Our annual dance workshop is a fun packed week of dance culminating in the Workshop Concert.
Open to dance students from ages 5 to young adult.
This year we are offering classes in Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical and Tap.
Students will be tutored in dance technique and learn a routine to perform at the Workshop Concert on Friday.
Full Workshop: Classes comprise 4 x 1 hour lessons per dance form, Monday to Thursday and rehearsals for the Workshop Concert on Friday.
Part Workshop: Would like to do some classes but can't commit to the whole week and concert? You can take classes on any number of days, Monday to Thursday.
A workshop concert will be held in the Exhibition Hall on Friday 14 July at 7:00 pm.
Tickets will be available from Forum North or online at Ticketek from 7 July 2017.
Prices: Adults $20; Children under 12 years $10.
Jazz & Lyrical
Megan is a very successful professional jazz dancer, teacher and choreographer. She is an A cast member of the dance company Soul of Siren and performs at many events such as the Kim Dotcom Mega Launch, the NZ Fittest Expo and numerous High Life Entertainment Events. Megan has been a backup dancer for NZ rock band Shihad and has featured in music video’s such as “Sky” by Titanium, “Say To You” by Brooke Duff and “My Heart Won’t Let You Go” by Massad.
Megan is also a SkyCity Cheer Girl and performs at all the home games for the Vodafone Warriors and the NZ Breakers and made it to the top 16 in 2013 for NRL Cheerleader of the Year. Megan has performed twice at Eden Park to open two of the All Black’s test matches.
Currently Megan is studying a conjoint degree at Auckland University, she is studying Law and Arts with a major in Sociology and Criminology whilst also studying a minor in Dance. Megan teaches at Dance Dimension’s in Browns Bay and Warkworth, while also finding time to choreograph for competition soloists.
Ballet & Contemporary
Elizabeth grew up in Whangarei and started her dance training at Whangarei Academy of Dance. At age 10, she began studying RAD syllabus at Northland School of Ballet and later, Dance Inc. Northland. She also trained for a year with Anthony Pannell. At 16, she attended Canterbury Ballet’s full-time training programme in Christchurch. The following year, she was accepted into the New Zealand School of Dance where she trained as a classical ballet major from 2009 to 2011 and completed her RAD training, gaining distinction in her Advanced Two Ballet exam. Elizabeth enjoyed performing pieces such as the Winter Variation from ‘Cinderella’, works by Jiří Kylián, and excerpts from ‘Napoli’, in her graduation performance.
After graduating with a Diploma in Dance Performance, she travelled North America and Europe, took classes with international dance companies and taught ballet for Dance Inc. Northland. Recently, she has enjoyed collaborating with Krystal Williams-Tuhoro on lyrical pieces for the students at Pulse Dance Studio.
Elizabeth is currently based in Auckland, studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) and teaching ballet at SABA in Epsom.
Hip Hop & Tap
Brandon Carter-Chan has trained in various forms of the arts from a young age from dance to vocal performance and theatre. He is an accomplished vocalist and dancer and has performed at Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park for three years and competed at SDNZ regional and national level with his Hip Hop crew.
His main passion however is Tap dancing and percussion, competing and winning numerous awards throughout New Zealand and Australia. Brandon is a New Zealand Tap Champion having won the PACANZ Young Performer of the Year Award in 2014.

$10 per person or $15 per family
$10 per class plus the administration fee.
One scholarship to the value of $30 is awarded for each age group.
To be eligible for consideration for a scholarship, attendees must be enrolled in and attend all 6 class types.

All children between 5 and 7 years must be accompanied by an adult during breaks between classes.
Ballet and Tap: Past or present experience required.
Contemporary, Hip Hop, Jazz and Lyrical: No previous experience required.
Students may be upgraded or downgraded at the discretion of the Workshop tutors by the end of day 1.
For students attending dance schools, please include your present dance genres and grades in the enrolment form so you are placed in workshop classes suited to your abilities.
